Born in Padova (Italy) 1941, at age 6 his family moves to Buenos
Aires (Argentina). Starts to play trumpet at 14 inspired by the
sounds of Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven, Harry James
with the Benny Goodman Band, Chet Baker & Mulligan's Quartet,
and so on. At 19 meets Gary Burton, a Berklee School of Music alumni
who suggests that school and to Boston he goes. His teachers at
the time were John La Porta (Improv. & Ear Training) Lenny
Johnson (tpt) Ray Santisi (Jazz Workshop) Herb Pomeroy (Arranging)
they all instill a sense of musical progressiveness thats lasts
for a lifetime...
After experiencing all sorts of musical venues mostly playing the Big Bands
such as Les & Larry Elgart, Machito, Charles "Chic" Cicchetti,
Sonny Costanzo, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, etc. moves back to Italy in '98. |
